As we head into Labor Day weekend, the team here at Palmer is hard at work finishing up a number of exciting projects. Most notably, we just wrapped up shooting the award winner films for this year’s 10th Anniversary Southern Colorado Conservation Awards, which will be held on October 3rd at the Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs.
In mid-August, filmmaker Blake Kimmel and I spent a wonderful day filming on the Chico Basin Ranch, an 87,000-acre cattle ranch managed by Ranchlands—the winner of this year’s “Environmental Stewardship Award.”
Then just last week, we headed south to Santa Fe to film Pete McBride—our “Champion of Colorado Award” winner—at a screening of his highly praised new film “Into the Canyon.” And as an added bonus, we were thrilled to interview Pete’s friends and collaborators, best-selling authors Hampton Sides(“Blood and Thunder”) and Kevin Fedarko (“The Emerald Mile), who spoke eloquently to Pete’s deep-rooted commitment to conservation.
We are unbelievably excited to honor all of this year’s Southern Colorado Conservation Award winners—Lyda Hill & Nancy Lewis, Dr. Mike Bartolo, Ranchlands, and Pete McBride—and debut each of their respective films. Please join us on October 3rd for what is sure to be an inspiring evening!
Until next time~
