Conservation Advances in Colorado

On Thursday, Governor Hickenlooper will sign recently passed Senate Bill 206 will provide up to $1.5 million in tax credits to landowners who protect their land with a conservation easement. The bill makes much-needed changes to the existing tax credit program, including increasing the existing annual individual cap and offering an additional $25,000 to assist smaller landowners with transaction costs.

The bill is effective for all conservation easement donations in 2015 and later. Palmer Land Trust is excited about this bill and hopes that it will encourage landowners to commit to conserving their land. We applaud the efforts of our land trust community and partners, and express our thanks to the state legislature.
