The "Art for Land Sake" Invitational Art Show and Sale is an annual Palmer Land Trust fundraiser which is held each fall and offers paintings, large-format photography, and sculpture from a select group of quality Colorado artists. One or more of each artist's work represents property preserved under conservation easements held by the Palmer Land Trust. This year's show was held on September 26th and 27th at the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado. Forty well-recognized artists submitted art to this exciting PLT benefit. Participating artists visited, painted, sculpted and photographed familiar places like Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Stratton Open Space, Sinton Pond, and Red Mountain, as well as several ranches with conservation easements. The first evening of the show included a private reception, which provided the opportunity for patrons to have “first peek and first pick” before the show opened to the public. Artists donated 40% of their sales to Palmer, and purchasers received a tax-deductible donation for 40% of the purchase price. Painter Michael Baum received the Palmer Land Trust Award for his painting "Morning at Red Rocks". Honorable Mention Awards went to Steve Clement ("The Golden Hour"), Deb Komitor ("Red Rock Canyon Trio"), Michael Myers ("Dome Rock"), and Don & Maxine Green ("Dark of the Moon"). |
